Coffee has always taken center stage at BODUM, and the French press remains our biggest star.
It’s pure and simple, which is precisely the reason why coffee tasters use this method to determine the quality of coffee beans.
The French press materials (glass and stainless steel) are completely taste-free, so nothing comes between your ground coffee beans and the hot water.

Features BODUM Chambord French Press Coffee Maker
The French press generates no waste, no metal capsules, no paper, no nothing. You only boil as much water as you need – and there you go.
We all know plastic water bottles are an environmental problem but have you thought about all those metal capsules left by other coffee machines?
They generate more waste than espresso. The BODUM French press is just glass, water, and coffee.
BODUM Chambord French Press Coffee Maker
History BODUM Coffee Maker
When Bodum took over a small clarinet factory in Normandy in 1982, it was not because of the fine orchestra clarinets they were producing but because of a relatively unknown coffee maker called the Chambord, by coincidence, made as well.
We combined the skills of these Normandy craftsmen with modern production. The price became affordable to the many people who loved the taste of the coffee brewed in this unique coffee maker, later known as the French press coffee brewer.
Thanks to Bodum and the increasing need for better coffee, the French press coffee maker became one of the world’s most popular coffeemakers.
The design has not changed a bit from the original drawings, and we still make the Chambord with the same meticulous care and knowledge we learned from those proud craftsmen in windy Normandy.
CHAMBORD is a true original – the classic French Press coffee maker designed in the 1950s to honor the iconic Château de Chambord in France.
We still produce it with the same painstaking craftsmanship we used back then. Our Chambord is proudly made in Europe, just as it has always been.
Please Note: Except for the Chrome and Matte Chrome colors, only the glass, plunger, and filter are dishwasher safe. The frame and lid should be hand-washed with a non-abrasive sponge.
After the water has boiled, wait for 10-15 seconds before pouring into the carafe. Stir with a plastic or wood spoon. Leave a minimum of 1 inch of space at the top.
French Press – Step 3:
Place the plunger unit on top of the pot. Turn lid to close off the pour spout opening. Do not press down. Let the coffee brew for 4 minutes.
French Press – Step 4:
After the 4-minute brew has been completed, gently press down the plunger, and you are now ready to enjoy a delicious cup of French Press coffee.
Bodum Quality in every Component:
Borosilicate Glass or Recyclable Shatterproof Beaker
The Chambord line is available in borosilicate glass and recyclable, shatterproof carafes. The borosilicate glass is ultra-light and robust has excellent heat-resistant properties. The Recyclable SAN Beaker is Shatterproof and provides the identical clean cup of French Press Coffee you expect that is even greener! Both carafes are dishwasher safe and will not get cloudy in the dishwasher.
Stainless Steel Spiral Plate
The Stainless Steel spiral plate keeps the filter mesh in place and ensures water goes through but no ground coffee. The flexible spiral provides a universal fit considering the manufacturing tolerances of glass jugs.
Stainless Steel Filter Plate
The Stainless Steel Filter Plate is a critical component of the Bodum coffee makers. It separates the ground coffee beans from the water after the brewing has stopped.
Care Instructions
Except for Chrome or Matte Chrome finish; Only the Beaker, Filter, and Plunger are dishwasher safe. Use a non-abrasive sponge to clean the frame and lid.
